Financial Controller

1-1 Recruitment are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join the senior management team of an ambitious care home group looking to grow organically and through acquisition.

You will be responsible for managing the company’s finance functions across a multi-site business in a truly ‘hands on’ role and will be expected to visit the Group’s care homes across the UK, as and when required to ensure consistent best-practice.

In addition you will be involved in ongoing operational projects across the group, and in the longer term, assisting in the raising of capital investment for future acquisitions. You will have the opportunity to play a key role in the formulation and delivery of strategic initiatives to enhance the performance, future growth and profitability of the company.

Role responsibilities:

•Responsibility for all aspects of finance, from managing and developing a small accounts team to providing input at board level
•Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts and weekly cash flow projections, consolidated and by each home, reporting against KPIs, budgets and forecasts.

•Close management of the Accounts Payables and Receivables ledgers to maximise cashflow

•Ensure the collection of overdue debts with support from the care home teams

•Prepare annual statutory accounts

•Oversee monthly payroll and P11Ds

•Prepare annual budgets and forecasts

•Recruit and manage accounts staff

•Maintain company insurances including renewals and claims

•Liaise with HMRC offices and auditors

•Negotiate with and monitor utility suppliers

•Liaise with the bank and report on performance, ensuring the company operates within bank loan covenants
•Act as company secretary for board meetings

•Actively participate in strategic management and direction of the business

•Provide finance support to the Care Home Managers

•Ensure appropriate financial controls are implemented and adhered to a cross the group

•Manage financial reporting, statutory and tax obligations of transactions between the UK operating company and the offshore parent company

The Candidate:

•A graduate and qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) who is already working for similar sized organisation as a Financial Controller, ideally in a multi-site role

•Naturally positive, high energy multitasker. A team player with high levels of integrity
•Preferred understanding of financial management in the healthcare sector
•Strong computer skills, particularly with Excel and Sage 50 or 200
•Able to consistently work to tight deadlines
•Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with proven people management experience
•Able to write and present detailed reports and plans; internally, externally and to the Board
•Experience of raising debt finance and acquisitions, including business modelling would be advantageous
•Must be highly mobile, able to travel as required between the company’s care homes in England and Wales
