Systems & General Ledger Supervisor

We are partnering with a leading accountancy and business advisory firm to source a Systems & General Ledger Supervisor within their national finance team based near Gatwick. You will be an experienced Accountant with supervisory experience to ensure the financial accounting records of the group which includes corporate subsidiaries and LLPs are properly maintained, up to date, accurate, complete and in accordance with the internal management reporting processes as well as the statutory and regulatory requirements.

You will acquire a detailed knowledge of the accounting process and be a point of reference for those with queries, both in and out of the department. You will be required to supervise the day to day operations of the expenses, supplier payments, national cashiers and general ledger teams to ensure the department continually achieves its objectives.

·Key to the role will be providing assistance and guidance to the team or colleagues in other offices/departments, where the need arises, on queries arising whether it refers to the firm’s structure, coding or information within reports.
·Review and reconciliation of key general ledger accounts for completeness and accuracy to include bank, payroll, WIP, Debtors, disbursements and other control accounts.
·Responsibility for ensuring the department meets the internally imposed reporting deadlines.
·Continually appraise the current processes, systems and procedures of the department, make recommendations on how these can be improved to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
·Assistance within the year-end budgetary process in providing information to service/budget heads to include review of new internal structures.
·Involvement in corporate set-ups and mergers concerning the internal structures and processes culminating in the smooth integration of same.
·Provide assistance in the preparation of year-end statutory accounts.
·Liaising with the Firm’s auditors at year-end, when the need arises.
·Preparation of ad-hoc reports.

You will hold a recognised qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and/or significant accounting experience gained in previous employment. It is important that you can demonstrate supervisory experience to the level of completing formal appraisals and assessing the training and development requirements of individuals. Leading by example, you will have strong double entry bookkeeping, balance sheet and reconciliations experience along with accurate data entry skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Intermediate Excel skills and knowledge of Dynamics Great Plains or similar General Ledger systems.
